Philip Sherman, former cantor at a Central Park West synagogue, is Manhattan's leading mohel. Pronounced "moil," it means "ritual circumciser." A full-time "moil," 19 years' experience, like 400 circumcisions a year, he has brought this ancient tradition into the high-tech 1990's.
